Joining the Chorus

It's easy to join The Broadway Chorus: if you sing on-key, enjoy show tunes, can master simple choreography (given enough time), and love to have fun, you'll fit right in. You don't have to read music (though it helps, and if you want to learn the director will teach you in his spare time). We want people who love being on stage and approach each performance with boundless enthusiasm.

Auditions

Auditions are easy: we want to be sure you're on pitch and have sufficient range to handle the material, and you don't have to prepare anything. (Of course, once you join the Chorus, there are more traditional auditions for the solos and subgroup parts). To set something up, call Ashley at 822-6319 or e-mail him at ashley@oldadm.ubc.ca.

To be perfectly honest, if you're a man, and you can hold a tune, you're most likely going to pass the audition. Because we have so many women, space in the soprano or alto sections is limited, and we'll audition women in between shows, and let you know if you made it shortly before rehearsals begin (usually we begin in September for December's show, and in January for the June show).

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities as a member of the Chorus are to make a concerted effort to attend all rehearsals, play nice with the other members, and above all, to have a great time singing! Membership dues are currently set at $40.00, payable at the start of the month, with a $5.00 monthly discount if paid in advance (or even on time!).
